Tim Thompson moved from Minneapolis to Nashville in 1993 to continue his music career.  A lifelong musician Tim  hails from a strong family witth musical traditions and has two brothers who are also recording and performing artists.  In addition to the several independent cuts he’s had as a songwriter, Tim is a highly regarded performer, studio  guitarist and teacher.   His stylings are completely his own after years of honing his craft and artistic talents with a strong sense of disciplne and musical purpose.  Consequently, he is truly a master of his instrument.

Tim's growing list of session engagements as a guitar player for Nashville recording and performing artists has brought him respect and the  high regard of other artists for his talent. He recently produced “Kerrville Folk Festival” New Folk winner Mike Brandon’s “Everything Cool” CD, a driving acoustic collection of Mike’s songs, of which Tim co-wrote the title track, “Everything’s Cool”, and “Everyday Angel”. Some of Tim's favorite guitar icons include: Jimmy Hendrix, Leo Kotke,  Ritchie Blackmore, Joe Pass, Pat Martino, Larry Carlton, Chet Atkins, and Doc Watson.

As a songwriter, Tim plies his craft and art seriously.  He is very active in the Nashville songwriting community and Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) as a Moderator for songwriting workshops. Tim also performs regularly at Nashville's  famous Blue Blird Cafe. 

With his recent release, simply titled “Christmas”, Tim draws on his wide range of influences to create a unique collection of finger style arrangements that bring new life to some of the timeless holiday classics.   He is in the planning and development stages for a new production called "Cathedral" for the sacred music genre.  In this album Tim will play the old devotional hymns he learned as a child in church, but he will play them with a new fire.

Studio & Session Experience Tim is an accomplished studio musician with many studio sessions to his credit.  He is a sought after guitar and music arranger and has considerable experience as a producer for independent artists in Nashville.

Peformance Experience Tim has 25 years of performance experience.  He is a frequent performer Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist at many of Nashville's exclusive songwriter and music clubs including the world famous Bluebird Cafe where he plays regularly.
